I Saw Santa

Posted by Dogfish

Tonight the boys and I went to the Santa Claus Parade. It was an evening parade. We went downtown with a few of the teens from the youth group of our church and tried to get a parking space. Big mistake. Finally, we got one.

Then we made the trek to where we could see some of the parade. We got a reasonably good spot really. The boys loved it. Jackson was so excited to see Santa! He knows that he is not real but it was really adorable to watch him light up when he saw the BIG float a comin’

Good time.

Happy Birthday to her…

Posted by Dogfish

It was my Aunt Nan’s birthday yesterday. Happy Birthday Aunt Nan!

I just wanted to say aloud that this lady rocks! She is such a loving, caring individual. She is like a third grandmother to the boys. We really love her.

So, all the best Aunt Nan. We love ya, and hope you have a great year ahead…

And so it begins…

Posted by Dogfish

We got dumped on last night. 6-8 inches of the stuff. And it is supposed to continue today.

But, at least it will stay for a day or two. Snow is one of those wonderment things if you ask me. When there is a fresh coating of it, things just seem better. I have to admit, it really did not bother me ALL that much to walk out into it at 6:35 this morning to shovel. It was still falling and dare I say it, it was beautiful.
(Please don’t think any less of me all you men out there for using that word).

The boys are so excited to see the snow. They can hardly wait to play with their friends at school in it.

Should be a good day.

Keeeeyahhhh!

Imagine my delight, when we went to Karate last night, and we found out the boys are elible to be tested for their next belts this Friday night! It means they are doing well! Yay!

I have been wondering a bit the last few weeks how much has been soaking in. There have been a couple or three times that I have seen some flying kicks going on. They have not been teaching that though.

The boys are absolutely pumped! This would be a first belt graduation for Jackson and a second for Will.

Should be fun.

Hello Santa!

Posted by Dogfish

Nan and Jackson put up all the Christmas decorations today… Is it too early? What do you think? I don’t think that it is. Christmas is a great time of the year.

Let me qualify that. We really don’t try to go all that big for Christmas. It is a big family event for us. A really good opportunity to spend time together.

I was sitting in the family room today watching the football game when I got to thinking about this Christmas. It is going to be difficult I think. Well, I think I know that it will be.

Losing Mom McGrath was brutal this year. And that is just me talking. They say that you can’t even begin to understand til it happens to you. Yup. They were right.

We are really looking forward to spending time with Dad McGrath this year. It will be great to have him so close after he moves in the next two weeks.

Good times. Sorrowful times. Thinking times. I am sure that there will be lots of fun, lots of tears and lots of remembrance. But that is good. Remembrance is good.

Disappointing walk in the mall…

Posted by Dogfish

Nan and I had a date night last night.

We went out for dinner to Under the Volcano. It was ok. Just ok. I enjoyed the meal but we will not go back. I just wouldn’t call is stellar…

After that, we got hot drinks (chocolate and a coffee) from Starbucks and walked around Victoria Park. We wanted to go to the Cenotaph and pay our respects as it was Remembrance Day and just generally wander around. Then we went to this little chocolate store we have been wanting to go to for a long time. The chocolate was good. The service was horrible! At one point, Nan said she wondered what was in one of the chocolates and the 15 or something year old said DON’T ASK ME…

Wow, service extrordinaire I tell ya.
Anyhow, I digress. The chocolate was yummy.

From there, we went to WhiteOaks Mall. We walked around the whole thing, found the lubricating oil for my trimmer I had been looking for and saw a nice pair of shoes for Nan and an amazing Espresso Machine. We bought neither. All this to say, I can’t believe we saw nothing else… Strange… I must be getting old.

Honestly though, and I know this will sound really corny, but it was a great night just spending time with my honey. She is the best.

A New Look

Posted by Dogfish

I have been trying to learn new technology for the web. It is called CSS (Cascading Style Sheets).

It is very difficult to wrap my head around. However, that being said, I have redone the dogfish site. Please have a look and let me know what you think…
Here is dogfish
It certainly is a different look for me. I think I like it though. The other reason for redoing the site is this. I have been trying to drive more website business through our doors and needed to be able to showcase some of the sites we have done a little more than a simple link… That really doesn’t scream out for business y’know??

So there it is… Oh, yes the blog address has changed to. It is now http://www.dogfish.ca/blog
That might not seem like a big change to you but it is in a different area and all that jazz.. yada yada yada. You don’t care right? I don’t blame you.

Anyhow, hope you enjoy.

Episode III and me…

Posted by Dogfish

I watched the third episode of the Star Wars series again the other night. I really did enjoy it. Technically, it was the best movie of all the movies. But, I have to say that is definitely the darkest of all the movies as well.

George Lucas did a good job finishing up this series. It has been a long time coming, but he did it nonetheless. He tied up all the loose ends in just under 2 and a quarter hours. Wow, he was moving to do that. I dunno. I think it was almost too finished though. It didn’t have that cheesey look of some of the others did. I kind of missed that.

Dare I say it. I think I may be growing out of these movies. (I know, I know, there are gasps of horror from all of you fanatics!!)

I enjoyed Batman Begins more than this Star Wars movie. It was a far superior film in dealing with the psyche of the hero. Don’t get me wrong. I still love all the Star Wars characters but I don’t love them in a dress up and play starwars kind of way anymore. I guess I am growing up.

Now, Batman, that is another story. I love that guy. I might even ask for some Batman Underoos for Christmas…..
