I am doing something very new to me this week. First of all, up until now our company has not charged Provincial Sales Tax. It has only been charging Goods and Services Tax. That is about to change. Nan was able to procure our vendor number yesterday, and now we are ready to charge pst. What that means is that we can now sell hardware easily….
We have a client that desires a good server for mail, data storage and backup so we are doing a very big install this week. It is a first and I know that there will be some hiccups along the way, but I am looking forward to learning the technology and being able to offer it more readily to my other clients.

My friend and cohort Topher hooked me up with a google blog tracker. It tells me the last 20 people to hit my blog and resolves their i.p. to tell me where in the world they are…
I have consistently had someone from the area of the world near Afghanistan checking out my blog.
Who are you? I would love to know if you read this…. post a comment and make yourself known. Yup, it sure is a global village…

So, I have been working on a mythtv box off and on for about a month or so now. I am pleased to say, that it is complete! I have rebuilt and re-installed the crazy thing too many times to probably keep track of but it is done. Finally.
The last thing that had to be accomplished was setting up the universal remote control for the linux machine. That was the worst part! But after a couple of posts on forums and research, we got there. So if you want your own personal video recorder, call me. I can hook you up!

Will had a sleepover for his birthday last night. When it was touchdown time, I told them I would like them to stay in bed and rest until 6:30 this morning. Ha! I was hoping to get til 6:00 maybe..
Nope! I awoke to the murmur of little voices and giggles and the pitter patter of feet making multiple bathroom breaks at 5:00 am. You have got to be kidding me! So, I rested (operative word there… between thinking these kids are crazy and fuming over the ungodly hour it is…) until 6:00 and then decided I might as well get up.
I went downstairs to get my day started and sit quietly. Nope, then they started to laugh (read LOUDLY) up there. At this point, Nan is still asleep. I am thinking…. if those kids wake her up…. hmm….
I promptly went upstairs and told them to come to the basement of the house and play there. I made the mistake of asking them what time they had woken up. 4:00, 4:30, 5:27, and somewhere in the 5’s as Jacks is fond of saying.
Oh well, they will sleep well tonight right? They are kids and havng fun. I had to take a tap-down pill and relax. Don’t sweat the small stuff right?
At least they are having fun and they are great kids. I need a cup of coffee. I’m gonna go and make one now….

Will turns 9 years old tomorrow. I can hardly believe it.
It seems like only yesterday that I first held a 5 pound 5 ounce bologna loaf in my arms. Boy, how times have changed. He is such a great kid. I like to brag on him. He is tenderhearted, caring, passionate and intellectual. An awesome kid.
Will is having his birthday party tonight. He invited his two friends Justin and Aaron over and they are watching the movie “SKY High”. Good kid flick for little boys who wish to be superheroes. They all sat on the floor and watched the movie, eating their pizza, carrot sticks, chips and pop. When the movie is finished it will be cake time! Then the boys will play SKY High make-believe for an hour and a bit and then time to get ready for the sleepover. We have had both of these guys over before and they are great as well. The sleepover should be no problem at all….
Sweet. Pictures to follow.

Nan and I have been discussing the fact that we probably need to get a new barbecue this season. A while ago, we had Dad McGrath, and Phil and Heather over for some barbecue and it was not good. I have bought a couple or three burners for this barbecue in the last 3 years. It has been frustrating. I have bought the universal h-burner and installed it only to get maybe a year out of it. I bought a new one last year and when I went to fire up the barbecue a month or so ago, I got a little bitty flame on one side and a flame about 13 inches high on the other side..
When we were away this past weekend visiting my parents I was telling my dad the epic story of barbecue when he said “have you tried a venturi brush to see if something is stuck in there?” Uh, no, I said, maybe I should try that. So, I bought the brush ($4.97 at Canadian Tire) and brought it home. Opened that bad boy up and went to pull the burner out to give it a good brushing. Ha! The venturi tubes had rotted right off the element. Now I know why the gas flow wasn’t very even.
Nan bought a brandname replacement burner the other day and boy oh boy! Does it ever work good.
We are all set for the season I think.

I have a client that I am creating a website for. I have been waiting for content from them for quite some time. A month in fact. They would like a working model of the site to show a panel of experts on Friday…. Hah! Not if you don’t get me the content you guys!
Unbelievable. I am starting to get stressed about this. I hate the fact that it may well show badly on my part that someone else has ‘dropped the ball’

We went to visit Mom and Dad Britton this weekend. Great times.
While there, we drove up to the ol’ cheese factory and bought some fresh cheese curds. Yum….
Throughout the weekend, we munched happily away and had a delightful time just hanging out and relaxing.
Sunday afternoon we made our way home and arrived safe and sound. The thing with going to Mom and Dad’s is that I alway eat way more than I need to. I know I tend to overeat anyway, but this is something I am trying to rectify. Anyhow, we are sitting around the dinner table and having cereal last night. My stomach did not quite feel right.
So, I ended up by 7 o’clock laying on the couch curled up into a large ball in excruciating pain! I took some ibuprofen and went to bed. Nope. I was up every 30 minutes with the crap!
So, at 1:15 am I decided enough is enough and I am going to Emergency. I bundle up, go to the bank (need money for parking), go to emerg, see the triage nurse, get into an emerg bed in about 30 minutes. cool. Then the waiting begins. An hour and three quarters later, the doctor sees me.
Stupid, the pains went away on my way to the hospital. I thought to myself, should I just go home and not worry about it? No, I should go have it checked out.
The doc said my ecg is pristine and my heart is golden
He did not know what to say it might have been. When I told him about the cheese curds he laughed. Everyone needs some humour at 3:30 am right?
So, back home to bed.
I still don’t know what did it, but I think I am going to be a little leery of cheese curds for a bit..
