Dad and Sharon were down today and Dad spoke at church. Good sermons Dad!
It was nice to have them down. We had a barbecue for lunch. (thanks for the bbq Eric! you rock!)
Eric stopped by for a chat this afternoon. That was nice.
Then Grandpa and Gramma Eleanor stopped by for a visit too. We had friend egg sandwiches for dinner and then went back to church.
Good day.

This afternoon we are just hanging out at the house.
I was going to mow the lawn but it rained today. too bad.
I will get to it tomorrow maybe.
Purchased the new burner our barbecue today and installed it. Works like a charm. Beauty.
Jackson and Nan baked cookies this afternoon. Well Nan baked, and Jacks kind of helped.
Then the boys and Nan did an exciting experiment with baking soda, vinegar, a bottle and some detergent. Instant volcano. Neat!
Now, Nan is playing some new music on her piano and the boys are I are watching Spiderman 2. I thought it was an ok movie, but Jackson has really been looking forward to seeing it so we are relaxing and doing that now.
It is fun just hanging with my guys.

A while back the youth group from our church gave us some gift certificates for running bible studies and events for them for the year past. It was very kind of them. They sent us on a dinner out and a movie night date. What fun! Our friend Kurt and Anita joined us on their first date night since their little guy Kaiden was born. I hear that he did very well for the first time without his parents and I have to say that Mom and Dad did very well too.
We were able to go see the Bourne Ultimatum. Great flick.
I have come to a realization about the Bourne movies.
Although they are nowhere near the books ( I doubt they could be unless we received 3 x 4 hour movies a la Lord of the Rings…) these movies did a good job portraying a sense of who Jason Bourne was supposed to be. I have been kind of down on these movies because they strayed from the books so much but have come to realize that they could not have done all that much better.
Good movie.

Question: what do you get when you buy one of these?

Answer: One of these……

Yup, we did it.. Welcome TAFFY to the Britton family.
She is a wonderful little Bichon Frise / Shih Tzu cross that was born August 4th, and will come home to London on approximately October 4th. She is a cutie! She loves to snuggle and Jackson is over the moon!

Nan and I have recently been wondering about the whole Florida trip thing. Our boys are generally low key guys. Every time we brought the trip up we would get a response like…
yeah, that will be okay.
I was not looking for that. I expected them to be really pumped. We were not sure why other than the fact that they are the kind of kids who like what they like and enjoy the simple pleasures in life.
William is a reader. Books are one of his greatest loves in life. He undoubtedly gets this from his mother. I enjoy reading. I do not LOVE reading. Nan does. Almost as much as she loves piano but that is another post later I think…. he he
Jackson is different kettle of fish altogether. We have been trying to figure out what it is that makes Jack excited in life. He is certainly a second of two child and has a more “laisez faire” (sp?) attitude in life.
Well, Nan was praying this past week about how we needed to find Jackson’s passion and to try to develop it some. She prayed something to the effect
Lord, help us to understand what Jackson’s passion is and to have the courage to follow through with encouraging that.
heh.
Guess what? Jack’s passion is animals. He would really really really really really really like a puppy.
We gave the boys options. Option A is to go to Florida and have a blast at Disney.
Option B is for Jack to get a puppy, and Will can increase his library of books for a year.
We are getting a puppy. Nothing too big. Probably a Shih-Tzu if we can find one.

Well, we had a fantastic time in Huntsville on vacation. I did not do nearly enough work while I was up there and am scrambling now to get stuff done… Oh well, I should not have been working on my vacation right? yeah, right.
We left on Saturday and arrived at Muskoka Baptist Conference and got settled in. Food was great all week. Too great. ouch!
The speaker was fantastic. Joe Boot from Ravi Zacharias Ministries Canada. If you ever have a chance to hear this gent, do it! He is quite young at 34 to be an apologist but boy, he does not let his age affect him in his job at all. Man, this guy is something else!
The boys enjoyed going to the kids club all week in the morning and evening session. Nan and I attended the evening sessions to hear Joe Boot.
Nan and the boys spent as much time at the beach as they could. This is generally when I spent some time working. I had to work in the front office lounge to get internet and ended up talking to a lot of people I know hence another reason a lot of work did not get done. hmmmm
During our time in Huntsville, we met a wonderful family from the Uxbridge area called the Hayes. What wonderful folks, Derek (the father) is originally from Blackpool England and has a wonderful dry sense of humour. His wife Debbie puts Derek to shame! What a hoot we had. They have two great kids that got along just great with Will and Jacks.
It rained and hailed on Friday so we decided to jet early and run down to Belleville to see Mom, Dad, Aunt Nan, and Doug for the weekend before heading home.
Great trip. Lots of family time, lots of reading, lots of sleeping. Good times.
Pictures to follow

So an aquaintance of mine invited me to his club on Tuesday of this week to golf.
It was the hardest course I have ever played. The majority of the greens have 4-6 foot drops. Yikes.
Shot a 112. Brutal. brutal, brutal brutal….
Oh well, it was a stunning course. The club is 108 years old and everything is mature. Wonderful to play. I really enjoyed playing with the fellas that were there. Good times. Worst game played, but still a good time.
Even a bad game of golf is a good time.
