Are weeks ever not busy anymore?
Nan and I have been lamenting about this a great deal lately. It would seem that we have put ourselves onto this perpetual wheel of motion that is life and sometimes we just want to yell…
Stop the ride! We want to get off and rest for a bit!
I am not sure that I can do much about this issue with everything that is required to be accomplished on a daily/weekly basis.
Anyhow, if anyone knows the secret, drop me an email will ya?
Thanks.
Will has been having a hard time with his foot. For about 2 months now, he has had a bad limp. Nan had him to the doctor and we were told that he had some “trauma to his heel”. I am not sure what that means.
Now we have the issue that Will has been walking on the side of his foot to favour his heel. He has gotten to the point where it is almost like he has forgotten how to walk correctly. It is really bizarre….
It tends to get a bit better and the regress very quickly. We are going to try to get him into the doctor again this week. I am not convinced that all is right with his foot. Who knows?
I am no doctor, I am just a concerned dad with a boy that is in pain. That sucks.
If you think of him, pray that we can get it sorted out. He is missing a lot of fun things that he cannot do right now like jump on the trampoline in the backyard and run around with his friends.
Will is having his birthday party tonight.
Man, I remember doing the big party at the church a few years back.
This is nothing like that at all.
He is having a couple of friends over to have pizza pockets and watch a movie.
The friends will stay overnight, then they will probably have French Toast for breakfast and play X-Box in the morning…
This is way too easy..
He is at that awkward age of 11. Not really a little boy any more and not a teenager yet.
Nan and I were talking about how just yesterday he came home with his sheet for Pizza Day at school and informed Nan that
“It’s all filled out Mom, I just need 5 bucks…”
Boy, we are soon gonna hit that age of
We’re goin’ to McDonald’s after church tonight, can I have $20?”
I do not feel old enough for this…. I know, I know.. I am old enough. I just don’t FEEL old enough to have an almost teenager in the house. Yikes.
It has been a while since I have done much blogging. I had actually considered taking it completely offline but I was convinced by my friend Topher that I should not. Thanks Toph, you were right.
I was outside watching Jackson walk the pup tonight and thought I would snap a shot or two. She is getting so big. Well, big is a relative word really. She is big in terms of what she used to be like.
She is coming along very nicely in the training department. Happy to say that we have not had many issues as of late at all.
Thank you Lord. She has become this little, lovable thing that likes to be around the family and spend time with us.
Good dog…
I could not wait.
I have been telling myself that I should wait until the weather was nicer.
OK, it was sunny today. That was enough to do the trick. I purchased this motorcycle, and I have not even ridden it and it was driving me crazy!
So, I took it around the block today. Man, did it feel nice! I can hardly wait to get my course under my belt and be able to tour on it. So much fun! ( as you can plainly see by the goofy looking grin on my face)
I need to get it all cleaned up yet. I have not even thought about that yet though. And it has the “Fear This!” sticker on the fairing… That has got to go. I am actually thinking that I should get a different sticker that says “I am fearful!” or “Quick! Get out of the way!”
I can register for my course tomorrow morning online. I am hopeful that I might be able to get into the first course of the year on April 3,5,6th. We shall see. I am sure that everyone else around here is thinking the same thing….
Well, I got my motorcycle home today. It is tucked safe and snug in my shed.
Oooh boy now I can hardly wait for good weather!
But we are supposed to be getting another 10 centimetres (3-4 inches Toph…) this weekend.
Bah Humbug!
Man, what a blur this weekend was!
Friday morning, I went to meet a client and got home around 11:30 for lunch. We had lunch with the boys and got them back to school for the afternoon. Then we packed for the weekend. Well, Nan packed and I continued to work away. When the boys got home, it was a mad dash to get them packed up along with the dog and over to the Koehler’s house. We finally got them there (after forgetting a few things and waiting on boys being let out of school later than usual), dropped them all off and boogey’d on up to the church.
Pretty much everyone was there and ready to roll. The weather was simply horrible. Nan had google mapped our destination and it was to take us 4.5 hours to get to Parry Sound for the youth retreat. It ended up takeing 7.5. Brutal. absolutely brutal. But, it turned out so good.
We arrived late, had a snack with all of the other late-arriving groups and hit the sack. The next morning we were up and at ‘em with the rest of the groups and having so much fun. The sessions were excellent. Jay Sandiford, the speaker from Stouffville was very good. He was talking about how we are supposed to JUMP into what God wants for us. Sometimes at retreats, the message can be a little watery or fluffy. Not this time. Jay was really straight forward about what he said and was backing it all up scripturally. It was a real relief for Nan, Joel, Christina and I. Good solid teaching… yes!
We were able to spend some time praying with each other and other leaders which was great. Some of the youth were asking really really good questions about life, God and how the two mix.
The youth had a blast! Lots of outdoor activities in the snow, good food, fun times. I have been informed that we are going next year again already. That is cool. I look forward to it.
We left the camp at around 12:45 Sunday and made it to the church for around 5 pm. Thank you Lord for an uneventful, DRY trip! Got all the youth hooked up with the parents, went to John and Christine’s for dinner (thanks John, the lasagna was delish man), took the boys and dog home, got them settled in for the night and went to bed early ourselves.
What a fantastic weekend.
