So I am meeting with a fella that I have done a little bit of work for to have lunch today. It is a working lunch as he has another project that he would like to discuss whether I can do for him or not.
I really appreciate this man. He attends our church and is on the board with me. I think the thing that impresses me the most about this individual is that he is a man of integrity and family comes first.
There is always the issue at church of “not enough people at the the end of the jobs”. It has been a thorn in my flesh for quite some time now.
The fella that I am meeting for lunch I know has walked through this issue before and has taken a really good tack on it I believe.
He is involved when he can be, but will not hesitate to step away when need be for his family time.
I think I can learn a lot from this gentleman.

I stayed up late and watched an old movie last night. Good times.
After we were all up this morning, Nan took off for the grocery store to do a shop and the boys and I built a lovely little gate to put in the office for the puppy as of Tuesday night.
The only thing we do not yet have but is coming is dog food. But the breeder gives us a weeks worth when we pick Taffy up.
This afternoon we had the Bookers over for a couple of hours. This young couple has taken on the Tuesday night bible study for the youth in our church. They seem to be connecting with them nicely. We were able to sit down and plan out the once-a-month social events for the next 6 months. Looks like it is going to be a good year. We are hoping to take the youth to a Snow Camp at Muskoka Baptist Conference in February. Should be fun.
After the Bookers left the 4 of us sat around and played a good old fashioned game of Sorry! What a good game.
Dinner is close to ready now.
After dinner is chillin’ with the family, some relax time, go over the Sunday School lesson for tomorrow, and night night.
What a wonderful Saturday

Dad and Sharon were down today and Dad spoke at church. Good sermons Dad!
It was nice to have them down. We had a barbecue for lunch. (thanks for the bbq Eric! you rock!)
Eric stopped by for a chat this afternoon. That was nice.
Then Grandpa and Gramma Eleanor stopped by for a visit too. We had friend egg sandwiches for dinner and then went back to church.
Good day.

The email seems to be working now. Finally.
Man, even when I asked these guys what the issue was, it was like pulling teeth to get answer. It was like they did not want me to know the secret to taking over the world.
It’s just a mail server guys, relax….
Anyhow, all that is behind me hopefully and I can move ahead and enjoy the day!
It is supposed to be a beautiful day today with sun, sun and more sun!
Yeah!
Toniight is the annual meeting at the church. I have been nominated to be an elder in the church. Not sure how that is going to go over with the members. We shall see.
I hope that the meeting wraps up by 9:30 tonight. If not, we may have to duck out a little early. We were able to secure tickets to see Spiderman 3 for the 10:00 show with the Koehlers and are very much looking forward to it.
Have a great day everyone.

We have the AWANA program at our church.
Tonight was the awards night for the end of the year.
It was a good night. The kids got their awards for doing well during the year and the leaders are now ready for a good, well deserved rest….

We are off to Grandma and Poppa’s place for the Easter weekend.
Everyone is very much looking forward to the trip.
We will however, be staying in town to attend the Good Friday service at our church.
The last few years, the St. Mary’s church and ours have gathered together for a joint service. Always fun.
We also have baptisms. Rather appropriate I would say.
This year, 3 of the youth group and our two close friends who became believers recently are being “dunked”.
I can hardly wait. It should be a fantastic day.

Last night we did a youth event with the teens from the church. We met at the Fleetway Bowling and Entertainment Centre.
Good times.
Bowling, Snooker, Foosball, Glow-In-The-Dark mini-putt, A high ropes course, and rock-climbing wall.
Look at this chick getting hooked up for climbing!

And here is the next part!

She is amazing that wife of mine. Eric said to me…
I’m gonna go and pay my money and do this! You gonna?
My reply (as said as it was)
Nope, Eric… I’d be lucky if I made it up 6 feet…
I dunno, I might be losing weight, but I think I am a ways off from scaling rock walls.
My wife on the other hand is a machine.. She did the rock climbing twice and the high ropes course once! And she was not feeling the best last night.
Wow, it would be amazing to see her on a good day (night).
I am a lucky dude.
Me, I just won 3 games of pool in a row…:)

October is Pastor Appreciation Month.
We took our pastor and his wife out for lunch today
I cannot explain to you how much I love these two people. I realize that I am related by marriage to them but it goes far beyond that.
First Uncle (Pastor) John.
This man has a heart for teaching God’s word to the people. Period. He is incredibly good at digging deep into God’s word and preaching it in such a way that I am challenged each week.
He loves the people of our church as a shepherd does. I love him.
Secondly, his wife. What a wonderful woman. I am blessed to call her both my pastor’s wife and my aunt-in-law (??) She is so caring. Aunt Doris a great person.
What a great time. Just sitting, enjoying lunch with them and chatting. I wish we could do it more often with them.

Man, I love our pastor. He is one SOLID preacher. He is unafraid to preach God’s Word for what it is. It is supposed to be brash sometimes. I also love the guy because he is my uncle-in-law but that is beside the point. There have been quite a few Sundays where he has been preaching and I have had the all-too-familiar “is he preaching this specifically for me this morning” feeling.
We have been fortunate lately to be able to start attending our evening service as well on Sundays. The pastor is teaching through Job right now and we are really enjoying it. Even Will said to Nan and I the other day that “Wow, that Job was pretty incredible to be able to handle all that stuff!” Yup, he sure was.
Anyways, I just wanted to brag on my pastor. Love him! He is awesome. I am not putting him on a pedestal. I am simply seeing the man for who he is right now. A loving, caring man who is willing to share God’s truth with me. I need more men like that in my life.
Thanks Pastor Uncle John

It is finally here (almost). Nan and Lindsay have been planning a retreat for the youth of our church for a while now and this is the weekend for it. It should be lots of fun. We are going to Rocky Ridge Ranch. Nan worked there for most of her highschool years as a counsellor and barn worker. The youth will get to ride at least a couple of times probably.
We are dealing with dating, relationships, marriage and all that stuff this weekend. Should make for some interesting discussion I am sure.
I will keep you updated.
