Boing boing boing…
Posted by DogfishI had an interesting comment made to me a couple of weeks ago.
I had dropped in to my friend Jude’s house and was looking at his broken computer.
They had decided to get rid of their old trampoline from their backyard and replace it. They have 5 kids, and about a hundred nieces and nephews. Well, not that many, but quite a few. This trampoline is TIRED.
So, they asked if we wanted it.
When Jude and Nicole bought their first house, they came into the possession of two tree fort / climbers. We ended up taking one from them and refitting it for our backyard. It has been a wonderful thing for our kids and the neighbourhood kids as well.
Two weeks ago, Jude and Nicole said, “hey, you fix things up! do you want this old one?”
Yup. I will fix it up. One leg requires some tlc but I think it will be great for Will and Jacks.
(just think of the fun they will have “force pushing” each other while swinging their light sabers and and bouncing up and down to boot.
I got to thinking today…. When did I become this guy who fixes things up?
For the longest time I remember being the kid who took things apart and let my little brother put them back together again. (sorry for all those times by the way Doug) Now I seem to be willing to take on these projects to fix things that might have some life left in them.
Could it be that living on the farm and having to make things work actually rubbed off on me?
Could it be that I have actually grown up to see things like my Dad does? ( I always remember Dad fixing things on the farm. Even if he could not figure it out, we had great friends with tons of farming experience who helped him.)
Strange, I kind of like fixing things now. I was not like that in my early years I don’t think….
